Learning to edit video with iMovie and play with youtube!

First of all, i’m using iPhone Screen Recording function to record my gameplay (video obtained). After that, thanks to the nice airdrop function, i used it to transfer the video to my iMac to edit with iMovie.

When importing video into iMovie, there is no audio track in the video. After done some research, there is video format (.mp4) compatibility issue for iMovie. Luckily, it can be solved easily by converting the video to right format.

1. We can use QuickTime Player to export the video to .mov format.
2. We can edit the video in iPhone and save it will auto become .mov format.

Here is the steps to do with QuickTime Player.
1. On Mac, open the video with QuickTime Player -> File -> export as -> 1080p
The exported video in .mov will now has the audio track when importing into iMovie and you can start the video editing.

You can notice the audio track highlighted red in picture below. It will be blank if there is no audio track

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Due to the resolution different from iPhone and 1080p, i choose the cropping style to be “Fit” so it wont crop the original video but will have a black background on top and bottom when export as 1080p

If you need some background music or sound effect, you can get it easily in the free audio library provided by Youtube which is very good to use with. You can listen to it before downloading.

Here are some edited videos for the game – Idle Heroes.

The edited video can be polished in many ways as there are still a lot things to learn like cover photo, intro, bgm, some text comment. It take times for the process but it will payout afterward.

So just enjoy it!
